Cancún, QRoo. — Air traffic at Cancún International Airport (AIC) reached 26.6 million passengers between January and November of this year, one million fewer than the number moved during the same period in 2024.

This means the terminal will hardly reach the 30 million passengers it did manage to move by the end of 2024, and it would be the second consecutive year without growth, after reaching its historic record of 32.2 million passengers in 2023.

During this 2025, international travelers have declined the most, as according to statistics released by Southeast Airports (Asur), Cancún has practically stopped moving 700,000, representing a -3.8% compared to 2024.

This is clearly reflected in the traffic of the main international routes to the Mexican Caribbean, six of which show a decline in the January-October period of this year.

The route that has lost the most passengers is Cancún-Chicago, with -15%; followed by Cancún-Panama with -6.7% and Cancún-Dallas with -4.8%.

Those decreases could have had a greater impact on the total international passengers moved to and from Cancún, had it not been for the notable increases that, in contrast, are reported by flights such as Cancún-Toronto, which records 25% growth and almost one million passengers moved in the first 10 months of the year.

Another route with atypical growth is Cancún-Montreal, which has increased its traffic by 33.9%, allowing it to move more than half a million Canadians in the same period.

Regarding the domestic market, the Cancún terminal reports 9 million users between January and November, compared to 9.3 million the previous year, meaning a total of 362,000 fewer passengers compared to 2024.

In the case of Cozumel Airport, also operated by Asur, 586,460 passengers are reported; of which 344,419 are international and the rest domestic. This represents a decline of 9.7% compared to 2024.
