Felipe Carrillo Puerto, MX. — State authorities confirmed that the two bodies found on Thursday morning along the Pino Suárez–Cecilio Chi federal highway belong to the brothers reported missing last Tuesday in the community of Noh Bec.
The identification was carried out by forensic personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), following the recovery of the remains and their transfer to the Forensic Medical Service.
According to official information, the victims were identified as Ariel Caamal and his brother, who had been deprived of their liberty during the early hours of November 17.
The discovery occurred when a driver traveling towards Muyil noticed plastic bags on the side of the road and alerted the authorities.
Elements of the Rural Police arrived at the site and confirmed that they were two bodies wrapped and sealed with adhesive tape.
The area was secured by personnel from the Navy, National Guard, and Investigation Police agents, who set up the necessary cordoning to allow the work of criminal investigators.
During the initial operation, authorities documented that the bodies showed signs of violence and that the cause of death was likely asphyxiation, according to the preliminary report.
On the day of the incident in Noh Bec, two women identified as Adriana “N” and Elis “N” were also deprived of their liberty. So far, no public information has been released regarding their whereabouts.
The FGE indicated that the investigation for illegal deprivation of liberty and homicide remains open, as well as the analysis of the scene to determine the involvement of criminal groups operating in the area.
Ministerial authorities continue with the proceedings, including the collection of testimonies and analysis of possible routes used by the perpetrators. No arrests related to the case have been announced so far.
