Puerto Morelos, Mexico — The Cultural Center and Museum of Puerto Morelos has opened its doors to "Between Jungles, Mangroves, Corals, and Paintbrushes," a vibrant exhibition showcasing the work of 16 local artists. The collection celebrates the identity, ecosystems, and cultural richness of Puerto Morelos through paintings, carvings, and sculptures.

A Visual Homage to Puerto Morelos

The exhibition, which will run throughout August, is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by José de Jesús Espinosa Payán, Secretary General of the Municipal Government, representing Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz.

Espinosa Payán emphasized that the exhibition not only highlights local talent but also honors the region’s natural beauty.

“This is a visual tribute to the ecosystems that define our area—the dense jungles, protective mangroves, and stunning coral reefs that inspire every brushstroke and artwork on display,” he said.

Valentina Leal Tosello, a participating artist, expressed gratitude for the platform, calling it a space where creativity and community converge.

“This venue unites established artists and emerging talents, bridging art with the people of Puerto Morelos,” she said.

Celebrating Culture and Conservation

María Soledad Foyo Niembro, Director of the Cultural Center and Museum, thanked Mayor Tziu for supporting the initiative and acknowledged the artists for their unique interpretations of Puerto Morelos’ landscapes.

“Each piece reflects the beauty of our ecosystems and the urgency of preserving them, while also capturing the daily life and spirit of our community,” Foyo Niembro stated.

She also recognized Narciza Herrera Montoya, a cultural advocate with 40 years of contributions to the municipality, for her foundational role in promoting local arts.

The exhibition was curated by Alfredo Sánchez Monroy and features works by Astrid Velázquez, Cristina Carballal, Esteban García, Federico Calderón, Gabriela Tosello, Gerardo Pérez, Liliane Taboada, Marco A. Taboada, Moises Taboada, Nastalia Mendoza, Oso Pardo, Regina Martínez, Valentina Innocenti, and Valerie Greene.

Official Support and Community Engagement

The event was attended by council members Rosario Concha Nal, Maria Fernanda Alvear, Gonzalo Calderón Poot, and Rubén Montoya Mex, as well as Secretaries of Public Safety Alejandro Nava García and Raúl Guadarrama García, among other officials and residents.

The exhibition underscores Puerto Morelos’ commitment to fostering cultural expression while preserving its environmental heritage.
