Cancún beaches packed as holiday season ends

Crowded Cancún beach with families and tourists enjoying the final holiday weekend

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Although Monday, January 12 marks the return to classes for more than 300,000 basic education students in Quintana Roo, thousands of people took full advantage of Cancún’s beaches during the last weekend to bid farewell to the December holidays with sun, sea, and festive atmosphere.

Playa Delfines and Playa Langosta recorded a massive influx of families, national tourists, and locals who, even on Sunday afternoon, many people extended their stay on the sand before resuming school and work routines.

Tourism authorities and Civil Protection reported no incidents on the beaches during the weekend, thanks to permanent lifeguard operations and information modules that ensured the safety of all visitors.

With that high beach occupancy, Cancún closes a successful holiday period that boosted the local economy and left images of crowded beaches, reaffirming the destination’s great appeal.
