The virtual victor of the municipal presidency of Isla Mujeres, Atenea Gómez Ricalde, recently celebrated her win with an Appreciation Caravan. The march, joined by hundreds of local families, concluded at the Bicentennial Dome in the La Gloria neighborhood of the Insular Zone. Gómez Ricalde used the occasion to express her gratitude for the support she received in her campaign.
The celebration was filled with the sounds of drums and cheers, as well as displays of affection from the local community. Gómez Ricalde assured her supporters that she would continue to transform Isla Mujeres with quality infrastructure, more parks and sports facilities, social programs, and increased prosperity for the families of Isla Mujeres.
"I want to express my gratitude to the islanders who voted and chose to continue with the fourth transformation," she said. "I promise not to let you down. I am committed to working tirelessly to ensure social justice and shared prosperity reach every corner of Isla Mujeres."
Gómez Ricalde also highlighted the decisive results obtained in the Continental Zone, Rancho Viejo, Francisco May, Punta Sam, and the Insular Zone.
Gómez Ricalde secured a significant victory, earning 80.3907% of the votes. As of 1:00 PM on Monday, June 3rd, she had received a total of 12,016 votes out of the 14,947 votes cast across the municipality.
Her victory marks her as the only presidential candidate from the coalition of the Movement for National Regeneration (Morena), Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM), and the Labor Party (PT) to sweep the polls throughout the state of Quintana Roo.
