Cancún — An ordinary afternoon on the beaches of Puerto Juárez culminated in an armed pursuit after security agents discovered two individuals exchanging drugs in front of the Kukulkán restaurant in supermanzana 86. One of the men, identified as Víctor Manuel “N,” was detained following a failed escape attempt on a watercraft.
According to the official report, elements of the Grupo Centurión and personnel from the Secretary of the Navy were patrolling the area when they detected the exchange of small bags containing what appeared to be marijuana. Upon being discovered, one of the men opened fire on the agents, although he did not manage to injure anyone, and ran towards the sea to escape on a white and blue watercraft.
The attempt was thwarted when the vehicle failed to start, and the aggressor was detained on the spot. His accomplice managed to flee into the surrounding vegetation.
During the subsequent inspection, agents secured a CZ 9mm caliber firearm with seven useful cartridges, 89 small bags of marijuana, a backpack, a cell phone, and the Yamaha brand watercraft.
Víctor Manuel “N” was transferred to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office Combating Drug Dealing, where he faces charges for crimes against public health and violations of the Federal Law of Firearms and Explosives. His possible connection to criminal groups operating in the coastal zone is also under investigation.
