Armed Attackers Shoot Loan Collector in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Armed men on a motorcycle shot a loan collector in a daylight attack in the Paseos Xcacel neighborhood, leaving him with multiple gunshot wounds to the arm.

The incident occurred when attackers aboard a white Honda Cargo 250 motorcycle opened fire on another man who was also riding a motorcycle at the intersection of Playa Chemuyil and Cobá avenues. The victim fell injured on the sidewalk.

Witnesses who passed by the scene approached to help and called emergency services at 911. Police officers from the Public Security Department arrived to investigate and cordon off the area.

Red Cross paramedics provided first aid and transported the injured man to a hospital in critical condition with at least two gunshot wounds to his arm.

The Municipal Police have not reported any arrests related to the case. The State Prosecutor’s Office took charge of collecting the motorcycle and other evidence from the scene.
