Shooting in Cancún’s Paseos del Mar Leaves One Injured

Cancún, Quintana Roo — One person was seriously injured following a shooting attack on Tuesday night in the Paseos del Mar neighborhood in Cancún’s Region 251.

According to initial reports, neighbors alerted emergency services after hearing multiple gunshots at the intersection of Isla Margarita and Isla Jamaica streets. Upon arrival at the scene, elements of the Citizen Security Police located a person with multiple gunshot wounds, as well as various spent shell casings on the public roadway.

The victim was immediately attended to by security forces and emergency services, who coordinated their transport to receive medical attention. Preliminary information indicates that there are people detained, although authorities have not yet confirmed their possible connection to the attack.

The area was cordoned off to allow for corresponding procedures and evidence collection. So far, authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the motive for the attack; however, unofficial versions point to a possible confrontation between rival criminal groups.

The State Attorney General’s Office is already conducting investigations to clarify the facts and determine responsibilities.
