Cancún, Mexico — A couple was found dead inside their home in the Villas del Mar Plus subdivision. Neighbors alerted authorities on Monday morning after hearing an argument and screams coming from a residence. The emergency call was received around 10:00 hours.
Personnel from the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender-Based Violence (Geavig), along with municipal police officers, arrived at house number 24, block 30, in superblock 250, located between Crisantemos and Claveles streets. Inside, they found a woman deceased, with wounds allegedly caused by a sharp weapon.
In the same home, a deceased man was also found. According to initial reports, he is believed to have taken his own life following the attack. Authorities stated that both individuals had been involved in a heated argument moments before the incident, though the reasons remain unknown.
The area was secured while ministerial agents and forensic personnel from the State Attorney General's Office carried out the corresponding investigative procedures. Residents in the area commented that, prior to the police's arrival, they heard a fight and cries for help.
The bodies were transported to the Forensic Medical Service for the legally required autopsy. Family members arrived at the scene without clear information about what had occurred.
Authorities are continuing the investigation to clarify the case. This marks the third incident with similar characteristics so far this year, alongside those previously registered in the El Milagro neighborhood and in Superblock 76.
