Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The Anime Fest Riviera Maya 2025 will be held on November 8 and 9 at the Teatro de la Ciudad and the Centro Cultural Playa del Carmen. The event, organized by citizen initiative, will offer enthusiasts diverse access to this cultural sphere.
Alejandra Martínez, president of Akiba Kei Paradise, explained that the event has expanded its offerings related to the exhibition of anime culture in Playa del Carmen.
"We have been doing this event for several years. We will have a free medieval festival in the parking lot. We will have dune readings, medieval weddings (…) many things related to the medieval era. We will have a music festival from three-thirty to seven-thirty," said Alejandra Martínez.
This cultural segment attracts many young people due to their fondness for Japanese anime and similar genres related to Asian countries, which are primarily consumed by youth.
"This November 8 and 9 we will be at the Cultural Center and the City Theater starting at 2:00 PM with many activities, surprises, and guests," she stated.
The buildings are located on Avenida CTM with Calle 125 in the case of the Centro Cultural Playa del Carmen, while the Teatro de la Ciudad is located behind the first venue.
"We will have a mascot race, a costume contest for little animals (…) there will be Coldplay," she elaborated.
For Alejandra Martínez, the message they aim to convey is to create a space where youth can express their preferences and find other people with common interests for healthy social interaction.
"This is for everyone, for those who like video games, K-pop, in addition to discovering other areas that may not be common and are becoming popular, like Japanese anime," explained the interviewee.
With this, the spaces in the Cruz de los Servicios zone are being reactivated, where the new downtown of Playa del Carmen is located, offering more opportunities for wholesome recreation.
