Arrest in Quintana Roo Ties Suspect to 13 Murders

Cancún, MX — The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Quintana Roo, in coordination with the Secretariat of Citizen Security, captured in flagrante delicto Luis Alberto “N”, alias “Pancho Arreola” and/or “Pantera”, indicated for his alleged participation in 13 homicides and for crimes against health in the modality of drug retail.

The arrest occurred in the irregular settlement El Cedro, Rancho Viejo, in Supermanzana 243 of Benito Juárez. At the time of his apprehension, the subject was carrying various doses of substances with characteristics of marijuana, crystal, and crack, in addition to a 9 mm caliber firearm, considered for exclusive use by the Armed Forces.

According to initial investigations, the detainee would be part of a criminal group dedicated to drug sales and generating violence in the area. Among his alleged functions were the collection of money from sales points and the control of hitmen in Rancho Viejo.

The Attorney General’s Office reported that the secured weapon was subjected to comparative ballistics tests using the IBIS system, yielding matches with 10 homicides and one injured person recorded in Benito Juárez and Isla Mujeres. These events would have occurred between February 24 and October 31 of this year.

After initial proceedings, the detainee, along with the secured drugs and weapon, was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will define his legal status within the constitutional period. (With information from the Attorney General’s Office)
