Akumal, Quintana Roo — Tourism operators in the coastal community of Akumal are preparing for one of the most important seasons of the year, with expectations of reaching 90 to 100 percent occupancy during the upcoming Holy Week holiday period.
According to business owners in the sector, this season represents one of the peak periods of tourist activity in the area, driven primarily by the arrival of national and international visitors seeking to enjoy the beaches and water activities that characterize this Riviera Maya destination.
Manuel Jiménez, owner of the company H2O Adventures, explained that during Holy Week, tourist demand often surpasses even that recorded during the December holiday season, due to an increase in visitors interested in nature and marine experiences.
The business owner highlighted that one factor strengthening tourism activity in Akumal is repeat tourism, as many visitors return year after year to engage in activities like snorkeling, boat tours, and marine life observation, maintaining a steady flow of tourists.
He noted that this dynamic also generates a positive impact on the local economy, as the increase in tourist demand benefits various sectors including restaurants, transportation services, tour guides, and local businesses.
Service providers indicated that, with the holiday period approaching, they continue preparations to welcome visitors, expecting Akumal to remain one of the preferred destinations in the Riviera Maya during the upcoming Holy Week season.
