Activists Demand Action to Find Missing Young Woman in Bacalar
Bacalar, Quintana Roo — Members of the Xtabay collective announced plans to hold a protest to demand the location of a young woman reported missing, accusing the State Prosecutor’s Office and other search agencies of showing little interest in the case.
María Magdalena Vargas López, whose missing person alert was issued Friday, has not been found despite her family filing a formal complaint and providing information about her possible whereabouts, according to relatives.
“The authorities have not effectively activated the search protocols,” family members said, stressing that every minute counts and that an immediate search can mean the difference between finding her alive or too late.
Representatives of the Xtabay collective said the family has handed over all available information about the young woman’s possible location and questioned why more forceful actions have not been taken.
“Time is running, and every hour is crucial to find her alive,” collective members warned, reiterating their demand that authorities act promptly and follow established protocols for searching for missing persons.
