The Indigenous Government of the State of Quintana Roo and the National Union of Guides and Workers of the Tourism Industry (Sinaltur) have signed an agreement to enhance and promote Mayan culture. The agreement, witnessed by the general director of the Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation (FPMC), Juanita Alonso Marrufo, aims to provide high-quality information about Mayan culture. This is part of the New Agreement for the Welfare and Development of Quintana Roo, an initiative led by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, which seeks to promote the state's cultural attractions to draw in visitors interested in archaeological sites.

The agreement was signed at the San Gervasio Archaeological Zone Tourist Stop's gardens. The signatories were Carlos Francisco Pacheco Polanco, the Mayan governor of Quintana Roo, and Moisés Josué Méndez Balam, the general secretary of Sinaltur. Both parties pledged to honor indigenous peoples, spread knowledge of the Mayan people's language and grandeur, and showcase the living richness of this ancient culture to visitors.

Juanita Alonso emphasized the FPMC's priority of promoting art and culture during her speech. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a significant event, which will enhance tourists' experiences when visiting San Gervasio and the Island Museum. Other attendees included Ángela del Socorro Carrillo Chulin, the director of Tourism and Economic Development, and councilman Roberto Marín Flores, the president of the Indigenous Affairs Committee.
