In a residential area of Playa Del Carmen, two individuals were tragically killed in a shooting incident. The attack took place in the Las Torres district, located in the southern part of the city. One victim died at the scene, while the other succumbed to his injuries during transportation to the hospital.
The incident took place around 10:00 pm on a recent Sunday night, within the Bali subdivision of the district. Local authorities received a 911 call reporting two people had been shot, leading to an immediate response from police and medical teams.
Initial reports suggest that two men on a motorcycle approached the victims in this residential area. One of the motorcyclists opened fire on the victims before both assailants fled the scene. The injuries sustained were severe, leading to the immediate death of one victim. The other was critically injured and despite the efforts of paramedics, he died upon arrival at the hospital.
Local police cordoned off the area while the State Attorney General's Office and the Ministerial Police of Investigation arrived to initiate their investigation. Both victims were transported to the Forensic Medical Service facilities for legal autopsies.
