Tomorrow, on Friday, October 25th, a delightful evening is planned for children aged 4 to 12 years on Isla Mujeres. They're invited to the monthly Game Night at Turtle Park, located in La Gloria neighborhood, starting at 7 pm. This time, after several months of card games, the children will have the opportunity to enjoy board games, which are harder to come by. These games are made available thanks to the generous contributions and donations from the island's foreign visitors, primarily tourists.
Over a hundred children are expected to participate in board games like Candyland, Trouble, Sorry, and Connect 4. They will learn these games in groups of four, grouped by age, with the help of adults who are familiar with the games. With the recent threat of heavy rains now gone, it's anticipated that nothing will dampen the excitement of the evening. The children are especially eager at the prospect of taking a game home to continue the fun. Earlier this year in February, the children transitioned from card games to board games, as per the initiative of the event organizer, Lisa Godfrey.
Due to the difficulty in acquiring these board games, the children had to revert to card games around May. However, recent donations have now made it possible for each family to take a board game home at the end of the event. Game Nights continue to grow in popularity and participation among the community's children each month. Besides offering a new form of entertainment, these events also provide an opportunity for the children to interact with foreigners and peers outside of their school environment.
