Four weightlifters from Quintana Roo are heading to Monterrey, Nuevo León, to compete in the National First Force Championship. This event, which begins tomorrow and ends on Sunday, serves as a qualifying round for the World Weightlifting Championship.
The competitors from Quintana Roo include Víctor Badur Güémez Cel from Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Darly Marely Canto Colli from José María Morelos, Darvin Ariel Pech Gómez from Cozumel, and Jesús Alejandro Gil Uc from Solidaridad. Each of these athletes has experience in national and international competitions and has earned medals in past events. They are guided by coaches Jorge Rodríguez and Luis Memije.
The World Championship, which will be held in Bahrain, is the next major event for these athletes. For Víctor Güémez, this competition is particularly significant as it marks the start of his journey towards the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. It also represents a new challenge as he will be competing in the -67 kilogram category for the first time.
At the same time, the National Children's Championship will also be taking place. Quintana Roo will be represented by Valentina Mateos Hernández, Lesly Ventura Borges, and Allison Palomino Salazar, who will be accompanied by their coaches Carlos Matos and Carmelo Rodríguez.
