The Parks and Museums Foundation of Cozumel (FPMC) recently wrapped up a training course aimed at tourism guides and service providers. The course concluded with a day of birdwatching at the Punta Sur Ecotourism Park, aiming to enhance the skills of the participants and ensure high-quality service for visitors.

Alejandro Marchán Payán, the general manager of the FPMC, emphasized the importance of ongoing training in the tourism industry. This aligns with the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo. The course consisted of 15 modules, exploring key topics such as the history, archaeology, biology, and conservation of Cozumel's natural resources.

The course participants gained knowledge in diverse areas including the island's geology, the reef system, bird identification, and conservation biology. The training also incorporated a field trip to Punta Sur. Here, participants practiced restoring the mangrove ecosystem and bird monitoring. The course also included a theoretical component at the Island Museum.

The primary goal of this initiative was to enhance the skills of the guides and contribute to the preservation and appreciation of Cozumel's natural and cultural heritage.
