Quintana Roo Governor’s Groundbreaking Progress Revealed

Quintana Roo's Governor, Mara Lezama Espinosa, recently presented her second term report to the public. She emphasized the collective efforts made under her administration, describing it as a "humanist government with a feminist heart." She stated that the groundwork for transformation has been laid over the past two years, a change she believes is both ongoing and irreversible.

The presentation took place at La Bandera, before a packed crowd outside the Government Palace. Governor Lezama highlighted the unique approach her administration has taken, focusing on local work and significant achievements that have ushered in a new era of transformation.

Several individuals who have personally benefited from government programs accompanied the governor. These included Julia Cahuich Puc and her daughter Cristel from the heart disease program, Tania París and Kendall de la Cruz from the cataract program, and Adriana Lozada, a beneficiary from the Colosio neighborhood in Playa del Carmen, who now has legal certainty of her property.

Other testimonies included Gael Alejandro Peña Góngora from the scholarship program, Macarena Colé from programs addressing violence against women, and José Rafael Arévalo and his wife Paulina del Rosario Canto, beneficiaries of the hemodynamics centers.

Governor Lezama expressed appreciation for President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's leadership and confirmed that president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum would continue this work with renewed determination.

She also highlighted the New Agreement for the Welfare and Development of Quintana Roo, which has fostered dialogue with all sectors and the Mexican Government. This agreement has brought unprecedented support to Quintana Roo, ensuring no one is left out or left behind.

Governor Lezama announced a record social investment of 3.5 billion pesos, used to provide 333 thousand food aid packages and 365 thousand economic aids. This initiative has helped address food insecurity and bolster household spending for over 55 thousand families.

On the financial front, the state was previously burdened with significant short and long-term debts. However, the debt to suppliers has been reduced by nearly 50%, from 7,370 million pesos to 3,230 million pesos as of June 30 this year.

The Governor also pointed out the historic investment of 410 million pesos in the Mobile Medical Caravans program, which has offered 330 thousand services to remote and marginalized communities. In partnership with the federal government, 61 high-tech ambulances were launched in the state at a cost of nearly 134 million pesos.

Additionally, over 48 million pesos were allocated for maintaining state medical units. The State Blood Bank was relocated to the new State Blood Transfusion Center. The Governor also secured federal support for the construction of the new Chetumal General Hospital, a 120-bed facility with an investment of nearly 1.5 billion pesos.
