InDrive, a ride-hailing application, has started operations in Playa del Carmen. The service is exclusively offered through vehicles from the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río Taxi Union.
Kevin Lamas, InDrive's Business Development Representative for Mexico and Central America, stated that their partnership with the union ensures enhanced security. This is due to the fact that they only work with officially registered drivers.
The service aims to cater to both local residents and tourists, providing a seamless journey to Cancún International Airport. A unique feature of InDrive is that it allows users to suggest a fare, reflecting the supply and demand dynamics of the service.
InDrive has plans to broaden its operations in Quintana Roo and hopes to extend its services to other cities such as Chetumal and Tulum in the future.
