CHETUMAL — The president of the Board of Government and Political Coordination (JUGOCOPO) of the XVIII Legislature of the Quintana Roo Congress, Deputy Renán Sánchez Tajonar, accompanied Governor Mara Lezama in a ceremony holding an Honor Guard for the first Constitutional Governor of Quintana Roo, Don Jesús Martínez Ross. The solemn event took place in the vestibule of the Congress.

During the ceremony, Magistrate Heyden Cebada Rivas, president of the Superior Court of Justice, as well as children and grandchildren of Martínez Ross, mounted an honor guard in memory of the legacy of the state's first governor. He was farewelled from the Legislative Power headquarters amidst applause.

Subsequently, during the ordinary session, Renán Sánchez Tajonar highlighted the legacy of Martínez Ross as the man who laid the foundations for the modern Quintana Roo. He recalled that during his mandate, Martínez Ross drove the creation of state institutions, consolidated the tourist development of Cancún, promoted the founding of the Technological Institute of Chetumal, built highways that connected the north and south of the state, and strengthened the arts and culture that gave Quintana Roo its identity.

"The example of Don Jesús reminds us that well-being must be a right for everyone. Today, more than ever, we have the responsibility to continue with his vision of a just, prosperous, and united Quintana Roo," expressed Renán Sánchez Tajonar.

Finally, the deputy president of JUGOCOPO emphasized that the legacy of Martínez Ross is a reminder that politics must be an instrument in the service of the people and that, as public servants, it is their duty to honor him with deeds and results that continue to transform the lives of Quintana Roo families.
