Cancún Hosts 45th National Theater Showcase 2025

Cancún, Mexico — The 45th National Theater Showcase (45MNT) will be held in Cancún, Quintana Roo, from November 6 to 15, 2025. The event is organized by the National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature (INBAL), through its National Theater Coordination, in conjunction with the Secretary of Culture of the Mexican Government and the City Council of Benito Juárez Municipality, Quintana Roo, through its Municipal Institute of Culture and Arts.

The municipal government of Benito Juárez announced the open call for participants via its social media channels. The full guidelines for artists wishing to join the 2025 edition are now available on its Facebook page.

The stated objective of the call is to create a theatrical mosaic, painted with nuances and contrasts, encounters and coincidences, in order to highlight, honor, and maintain the diversity of styles, voices, and themes that coexist in each state of the country. A special space will be given to children and youth, whose viewpoints, needs, and perceptions will be heard and considered.

Projects submitted for the selection process will be included in the 45MNT through stage performances, experiences, and theatrical practices. The Showcase will also include the Reflection and Exchange Meeting (ERI), the Theater Book Fair, critical follow-up by the Rodolfo Usigli National Center for Theater Research, Documentation, and Information (CITRU), the National and International Linkage Program, the Critical Showcase, the "Youth to the Showcase" initiative, and the Cancún Creation Laboratory.

The deadline to receive proposals and materials is May 27, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. Central Mexico Time. Registration for stage productions, practices, and theatrical experiences will be conducted virtually through the MNT portal. It is necessary to create a user profile for each project being submitted, and the formats and examples of required documents will be available for download on the site.

The results of the selection process will be published on July 31, 2025, on the website mnt.inba.gob.mx.
