CANCUN, MX — Five minors were rescued from conditions of severe abandonment in the Supermanzana 70 district, and one person was detained following an operation coordinated by the Benito Juárez Municipal Government and various municipal departments.
The authorities' intervention stemmed from a citizen's report that brought to light the situation of the children at the residence.
The five rescued minors were referred to the Benito Juárez DIF System, where they are receiving comprehensive care to guarantee their physical and emotional well-being, as well as the protection of their rights.
According to municipal authorities, the children are under specialized care and constant monitoring to ensure their recovery and development in a safe environment.
During the operation, one adult was also detained. This individual was turned over to the competent authorities so that responsibilities can be determined and their involvement in the neglect situation can be established.
The operation was carried out on Friday afternoon by the Group for the Protection of Girls, Boys, Adolescents, and Women, along with personnel from the Municipal Government. Also participating were staff from the municipal DIF through the Office for the Protection of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents, the Municipal Institute Against Addictions (IMCA), the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security and Transit, as well as the Specialized Group for Attention to Family and Gender-Based Violence (GEAVIG) and family members.
Municipal authorities reiterated that inter-institutional coordination and timely reporting by citizens are fundamental to effectively intervening in cases involving the violation of minors' rights.
They assured that work will continue constantly to guarantee that all boys and girls have protection, comprehensive support, and conditions for their full development.
