COZUMEL, QRoo — Personnel from the Subdirectorate of Ecology successfully rescued a green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas) that had become trapped among rocks near Punta Morena beach.
According to experts, the turtle measures 1.40 meters in length with an estimated weight of 190 kilograms. It was found immobilized between rock formations, a situation that posed a significant risk to its life.
The rescue operation involved members of Civil Protection, the Heroic Fire Department, lifeguards, personnel from the Mexican Navy, and members of civil society. After several maneuvers, the turtle was successfully rescued and returned to its natural habitat in optimal condition.
