Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Municipal Government, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, and the organization Hípica Salazar Quintana Roo announced on Wednesday the First International CSI3* Equestrian Jumping Championship Playa del Carmen 2025. The international sporting and tourism event will be held from September 5 to 7 for its national stage and from September 10 to 14 for the international phase.
The announcement was led by the Municipal Secretary of Tourism, Estefanía Hernández, and the Director General of Hípica Salazar and President of the Organizing Committee, Luisa Fernanda Salazar Moreno. They both agreed that this championship solidifies Playa del Carmen as a world-class destination that diversifies its tourism offerings and generates a positive economic impact.
During a press conference held in the Javier Rojo Gómez hall of the old Municipal Palace, Secretary Hernández highlighted the importance of the event: "Starting this Friday, more than 200 international pairs will gather at Hípica Salazar in a setting that combines first-class infrastructure, nature, and hospitality. The CSI3* Championship is a high-level competition that positions Playa del Carmen as the new benchmark for equestrian tourism in the Mexican Caribbean."
In this way, Playa del Carmen establishes itself as a vibrant and competitive municipality. "With this equestrian championship, we open a new window to the world, which will not only attract high-level tourism but will also generate economic spillover and opportunities for our people," stated Estefanía Hernández.
For her part, the Director General of Hípica Salazar and President of the CSI3* Organizing Committee, Luisa Fernanda Salazar Moreno, emphasized that this three-star championship, being held for the first time in southeastern Mexico, is endorsed by the Mexican Equestrian Federation and the International Federation. She highlighted that it is a project with a cause that also promotes various social and sporting initiatives.
"We are inaugurating a new venue in Puerto Aventuras with the largest arena in Playa del Carmen and Quintana Roo, measuring 90 by 60 meters, ready to receive Olympic riders such as Nicolás Pizarro, as well as competitors from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico. Furthermore, on Sunday the 14th, we will have the special participation of Andrea DJ, an Italian equestrian who is coming to Latin America for the first time. We are very excited and grateful to present this event at home, in Playa del Carmen," she stated.
The competition will take place in two phases: the state and national phase from September 5 to 7, and the international phase from September 10 to 14, consolidating Playa del Carmen as a destination for world-class sports and cultural tourism.
