Chetumal — The state of Quintana Roo has achieved a 61.3% reduction in intentional homicides, a result stemming from the strengthening of security institutions. Furthermore, during this administration, the state has managed to reduce poverty, Governor Mara Lezama affirmed. These results are to be presented this Thursday during her third Government Address.

Governor Lezama announced that thanks to the joint work between the three levels of government and the armed forces, a sustained reduction of more than 50% has been achieved in criminal incidents recorded in the state, reaching a level of justice administration considered historic for Quintana Roo.

Over one year, from July 2024 to July 2025, she stated, the rates of intentional homicide decreased by up to 61.3 percent. In the Benito Juárez municipality, the decrease was 70.6 percent. High-impact crimes across the state decreased by 29.2 percent in the last year.

“This is the new way of the government of the Fourth Transformation: to effectively combat the scourges that harm the population. To address the root causes of violence. In this humanist government with a feminist heart and based on the New Agreement for Well-being and Development, the reconstruction of peace is a priority so that people can live without violence,” she commented.

She also indicated that municipal Citizen Security institutions have been strengthened and dignified. In the last year, four Command and Control Centers and 19 intelligent monitoring points (PMI) were delivered in the municipalities of José María Morelos, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Bacalar, and Lázaro Cárdenas.

The monitoring and control centers concentrate a set of technological tools, the utility of which is centered on the visual monitoring of public security in strategic points. The investment totaled 18 million 249 thousand pesos.

In 2025, the interconnection of the Multisource System with the Secretariat of Citizen Security of the municipalities of Othón P. Blanco and Benito Juárez was finalized. This allows for the digitization and standardization of the filing of police reports for administrative offenses through the use of electronic tablets in the field.

Furthermore, operational integration with the 911 Emergency Response System was achieved, significantly strengthening the response capacity, traceability, and real-time analysis of municipal security forces.

With an amount of 1 million 978 thousand pesos from the Public Security Contributions Fund (FASP), 331 police officers were trained in initial training courses (for both recruits and active officers), continuous formation, and basic competencies for the municipal police function.

On another topic, the Quintana Roo executive announced a reduction in poverty in Quintana Roo, the lowest achieved in 15 years. This is due to the public policies and social programs implemented.

“The decrease of 9.3 percentage points translates to 177 thousand people leaving poverty. Girls, boys, young people, men, and women left poverty; there is the result of the public policies,” expressed the Governor of Quintana Roo.

These achievements of the administration, along with others, will be presented in the third Government Address, which will take place in the town of Calderitas. The stage chosen by the state Governor is already prepared to receive guests. The location already shows the transformation of this corner of Chetumal Bay, which will undoubtedly attract the gaze of all Quintana Roo and part of Mexico this Thursday.
