Playa del Carmen, Mexico — A private vehicle that ran a stop sign collided with a taxi, propelling it onto a sidewalk where it struck a female pedestrian in the Gonzalo Guerrero neighborhood of the city.

The incident occurred shortly before noon when a red private car proceeded along 20th Avenue from 20th Street without obeying its mandatory stop sign. As a result, it struck a taxi belonging to the "Lázaro Cárdenas del Río" Union. The impact sent the taxi crashing into an electrical utility box located on the sidewalk.

Paramedics arrived at the scene to attend to a woman who was walking on the sidewalk and was hit by the taxi. The woman complained of pain in her hands and legs and was subsequently transported to a hospital for further medical attention.

The responsible driver was insured, and the insurance company has assumed responsibility for the damages.
