CANCÚN, Mexico — The Attorney General's Office of the State of Quintana Roo has successfully dismantled a network dedicated to the prostitution of secondary school students who were recruited by one of their own classmates. The victims were then delivered to a woman known by the alias "La Jefa," or "The Boss."
The arrest was a result of the "Prevention Through Education" program, which is taught by the Attorney General's Office. Thanks to this initiative, authorities were able to rescue two minors who are presumed victims of human trafficking in its form of prostitution of others. Additionally, a female individual was detained for her alleged connection to the aforementioned crime.
Successful FGE Program Leads to Arrest
Preliminary investigations indicate that at a secondary school located in the Supermanzana 64 district of Cancún, a female student recruited her classmates. These adolescents were then required to work as escorts, providing sexual services in exchange for money and gifts, both inside and outside the state.
The teenagers were convinced by their classmate, who would take them to "La Jefa," identified as Elizabeth Shekina "N." She is alleged to have been the person responsible for hooking, transporting, and delivering the minors to the clients who contracted the sexual services.
"The Boss": In Charge of Offering Them
The cost per service was between 2,500 and 3,000 pesos, from which she kept a commission of 500 pesos. To carry out these services, the minors were taken to motels. In addition to cash payments, clients gave them gifts such as cell phones and other objects, taking advantage of the victims' vulnerability.
After investigating the facts, the Attorney General's Office requested and obtained an arrest warrant from a control judge against Elizabeth Shekina "N." The warrant was subsequently executed, and she was presented before the authority that required her. Her legal status will be determined within the constitutional period stipulated by law.
