Tulum, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama inaugurated the "Shared Prosperity Market" in Tulum yesterday, a landmark initiative designed to benefit artisans, farmers, and producers from Tulum, Bacalar, and José María Morelos by providing them a direct sales platform free from intermediaries.

The project, a collaborative effort between the three municipal governments and the state, aims to foster economic growth and equitable opportunities for rural communities.

A Unified Effort for Economic Justice

During the inauguration ceremony, Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo praised Governor Lezama for her leadership in bringing the initiative to fruition.

"Thanks to her tireless work, social justice is becoming a reality. Today, we are witnessing a profound transformation in Quintana Roo," Castañón stated.

He also acknowledged the cooperation of his counterparts, Bacalar Mayor José Alfredo Contreras and José María Morelos Mayor Erick Borges, emphasizing the importance of inter-municipal collaboration.

"This is a clear example of what working together can achieve. It’s not just about Bacalar having more opportunities or Tulum growing—it’s about all of us contributing so that every corner of Quintana Roo has the same chance to prosper," he added.

Governor Lezama Honors Indigenous Resilience

Governor Lezama commended the three mayors for their joint efforts in creating a direct sales channel for local producers.

"Today, as we approach the anniversary of the Caste War, we are realizing shared prosperity because our people have never stopped fighting. Our Mayan indigenous communities do not surrender—they work, embrace their roots, traditions, and crafts. And in this government of struggle, we do not give up either," she declared.

Strengthening Commercial Ties

The event was attended by representatives from major retailers Soriana, Tiendas Selecto, and Chedraui, establishing direct links between producers and these international brands. This partnership eliminates intermediaries, ensuring fairer transactions and higher profits for local farmers and artisans.

The "Shared Prosperity Market" will enable producers to reach consumers directly, opening new distribution channels while boosting local food production and consumption. The initiative is expected to improve living conditions equitably, particularly in rural areas.

Through this alliance between Tulum, Bacalar, and José María Morelos, the state government reinforces its commitment to inclusive development for all residents of Quintana Roo.
