Mérida, Mexico — Mérida Mayor Cecilia Patrón Laviada received a visit from local NASCAR driver Carlos Novelo Flota, who shared details of his recent third-place finish in the Trucks México Series (NASCAR México). The competition took place last Saturday at the Autódromo de Monterrey, marking another achievement in Novelo’s young but successful career.
A Rising Star in Motorsports
At just 20 years old, Novelo has been competing professionally for a year and a half in Mexico’s most prestigious racing series. He is also a leading contender in the Súper Copa, where he races in the Gran Turismo México GTM Light category. His next challenge will be at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City, Latin America’s premier motorsports venue.
Mayor Patrón Laviada praised Novelo’s dedication, stating, "Young people like Carlos prove that with effort and perseverance, dreams can come true. At Mérida City Hall, we want everyone to dream big and have the tools to achieve their goals."
Novelo is on track to become the first Yucatán-born national champion in racing series sanctioned by FEMADAC (Federación Mexicana de Automovilismo Deportivo A.C.). His rapid ascent in the sport has made him a standout figure in Mexican motorsports.
