Cancún, Quintana Roo — A joint operation conducted by agents from the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office, supported by federal forces, caused alarm among residents of the Villas del Mar III neighborhood in Region 248. The raid, carried out around 4:30 a.m. on June 19, resulted in the arrest of four individuals—two adults and two minors—and is linked to an investigation into drug trafficking under case file 14/2025.
Allegations of Excessive Force and Property Violations
According to reports, law enforcement officers entered the area armed with long guns, some dressed in plain clothes, which sparked panic among locals. Residents accused authorities of violating private property by entering adjacent homes without authorization, climbing rooftops, and using ladders to forcibly access residences where minors were sleeping.
Although officials stated the judicial order was issued to investigate low-level drug offenses, sources close to the case suggested the raid may be connected to a more serious crime. Belongings of a deceased individual allegedly led investigators to the targeted property, raising the possibility of additional lines of inquiry.
Animal Welfare Concerns and Community Outcry
Following the operation, complaints emerged regarding animal mistreatment, as several dogs were reportedly left inside the raided home without food or shelter. The Attorney General’s Office sealed the property, while neighborhood residents demanded an investigation into the alleged excessive use of force and potential human rights and animal welfare violations.
The incident has intensified scrutiny over law enforcement tactics in the region, with calls for accountability from both authorities and affected community members.
