Argentine Man Held in Playa del Carmen Sex Trafficking Case

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Matías Gustavo "N," an Argentine national, has been formally linked to legal proceedings for his alleged involvement in human trafficking, specifically for the exploitation of victims through forced prostitution. The decision was handed down by a control judge, who also ordered preventive detention for a period of two years or the duration of the judicial process.

Operation and Arrest

The accused was detained following the execution of a search warrant at a residence in the Residencial Allegranza subdivision in Playa del Carmen. During the operation, authorities rescued two women who were allegedly being exploited for sexual services.

Investigations reveal that Matías Gustavo "N" operated alongside his partner, Débora "N," a Brazilian national who was recently arrested in Mexico City. The couple reportedly recruited foreign women through social media, posting advertisements seeking "girls to work as escorts." Once contacted, the victims were taken to the Allegranza residence, where they were coerced into providing sexual services for fees ranging between 1,500 and 2,500 pesos.

Exploitation and Coercion

The victims were required to surrender 30% of their earnings to the couple. Additionally, they were forced to pay 10,000 pesos monthly for rent, 4,000 pesos for electricity, and 2,000 pesos for water. The women were also compelled to sell narcotics to clients and were prohibited from leaving the premises. Their passports were confiscated, and they faced constant threats.

Judicial Measures

The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Human Trafficking Crimes presented sufficient evidence to secure the judge’s ruling. Matías Gustavo "N" will remain in preventive detention as the investigation continues.

This case follows recent arrests in Quintana Roo linked to human trafficking, including the detention of a Cuban national in Cancún and multiple rescues of exploited women in Playa del Carmen. Authorities have intensified operations to dismantle networks involved in sexual exploitation and forced labor.

The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to identify and assist additional victims.
