Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The Humanist SER Hospital in Playa del Carmen has received an ambulance donation from One World Medics, enabling the facility to offer free medical services to underserved communities. The hospital, which has been under construction since March 2020, is the first of several planned by the International René Mey Foundation AC across Mexico.

A Cross-Border Contribution

The donated ambulance was driven from Fort Wayne, Indiana, and nationalized in Tijuana after traveling more than 4,000 kilometers. It will be used to provide no-cost medical care to low-income residents of Playa del Carmen who face barriers to healthcare access due to discrimination or financial constraints.

René Mey, Peace Ambassador, philanthropist, and founder of the International René Mey Foundation AC, praised the effort, stating, "This invaluable contribution sets a powerful example for aiding vulnerable communities." Volunteers from the foundation welcomed the ambulance and its crew with cheers, expressing gratitude for One World Medics' generosity.

Expanding Access to Healthcare

The ambulance will transport medical personnel, equipment, and volunteer therapists from the foundation to marginalized areas of Playa del Carmen. Operational costs will be covered by the hospital, ensuring that patients receive care at no expense.

The initiative demonstrates how collaboration and philanthropy can significantly impact public health. The International René Mey Foundation AC aims to replicate this model in other hospitals and communities, delivering high-quality medical services to those most in need.
