Residents of the Palmas 2 subdivision in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, were left in shock after discovering a decomposed and bound body. The gruesome find was made due to the foul odor that led to the residents alerting emergency services.

Police responded swiftly, cordoning off the area and blocking the street from Solidaridad Avenue to the entrance of Palmas 2. Residents with cars in nearby parking lots were unable to leave, and the surrounding streets of Palma Parasol, Flor de Nochebuena, and Solidaridad Avenue were also sealed off.

Authorities did not permit residents to enter the cordoned-off area. While no official statement has been released yet, investigations are underway to gather evidence that could aid the ongoing investigation. The body was removed by the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) for an autopsy.

The discovery has caused significant concern among the community, with many residents expressing worries about safety in the area. The State Attorney General's Office (FGE) and the Municipal Police are collaborating to determine the circumstances of the death. More details are expected to be released in the coming hours as the investigation progresses.
