Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo — An 11-year-old girl died after attempting suicide by hanging in the Leona Vicario neighborhood. Despite efforts by family members to resuscitate her and emergency transport to the hospital, she ultimately showed no signs of life.
The incident occurred at a residence located on Calle 62 by 79 in the Leona Vicario neighborhood, when a suicide attempt was reported inside the home. Red Cross paramedics responded, but the family had already transported the victim to the city’s general hospital.
According to investigations, a few minutes after being admitted, the minor stopped showing vital signs and was declared dead by hospital doctors. The case was reported to police and investigative authorities.
Later, Municipal Police officers arrived, followed by Forensic Service (SEMEFO) experts along with Investigation Police, aboard a SEMEFO vehicle, to conduct corresponding procedures and remove the body, which was transported to facilities for the required autopsy.
It emerged that the girl took advantage of being alone for a few minutes in her house to attempt self-harm; when discovered by her family members, she was immediately taken to the hospital, where she ultimately died.
