Yucatecan Comedians Audition for LOL México with Derbez

Mérida, Yucatán — Yucatecan talent continues to gain ground on the national scene and is now making a leap into comedy with its potential participation in the new season of LOL México, a reality show led by Eugenio Derbez.

On January 2, the first preview of LOL: Buscando Talento was presented. This format will travel through different cities across the country to select new comedians who will compete in one of the most demanding comedy programs on streaming television. In this edition, the selection process will focus on applicants from Monterrey, Mexico City, and Mérida.

The jury will be composed of Adal Ramones, Michelle Rodríguez, and El Capi Pérez, who will evaluate participants based on their ability to provoke laughter, without considering their level of fame or social media presence.

In the released preview, some familiar faces from Yucatecan comedy can be seen, such as La Tía Chayo, José Miguel Tako, El Cocoyol, and Addy Teyer “La Wera Rapera,” each with distinct styles and established local careers. Although the complete list of participants has not been confirmed, the presence of more talents from Yucatán is not ruled out.

LOL (Last One Laughing) is a format that originated in Japan and has been adapted in various countries, including Spain, Brazil, Argentina, France, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Colombia. The dynamic consists of gathering several comedians in the same space for six hours, where they must provoke laughter from their companions without laughing themselves; whoever breaks the rule is eliminated.

In Mexico, the program has featured established figures and emerging talents throughout seven seasons, such as La Chupitos, Ricardo O’Farrill, Sofía Niño de Rivera, La Mole, Ray Contreras, and Chingu Amiga, among others.

The premiere of LOL: Buscando Talento is scheduled for Friday, January 16, on Amazon Prime Video, where it will be determined whether the Yucatecan comedians manage to advance and secure a spot in the house to face the challenge of making others laugh without losing their composure.
