New Debit Card for Yucatán’s Va y Ven Transport System

The new Va y Ven debit card presented by the Yucatán Transport Agency

Yucatán, Mexico — The Yucatán Transport Agency (ATY) has presented a new debit card for the “Va y Ven” transportation system, in addition to the cards currently in use.

The cards are called “Dondé Va y Ven” and have the support of Banco Dondé and Mastercard. As an incentive, users will receive one free trip for every five consecutive paid trips within a 90-day period.

The cards can be acquired at no cost at mobile modules installed in Cetram stations and Banco Dondé branches.

In an initial phase, 5,000 plastic cards will be issued, which can be used as a payment method on validators of “Va y Ven” and Ie-tram units.

Users need to download the Banco Dondé app, register, add the card details, and recharge it through the application.

To deposit funds to this card, users can recharge at Oxxo, Dunosusa, Super Willys, and Super Akí stores, or do so digitally through the Vaivén app using CoDi, PayPal, or any bank card. Additionally, passengers can now pay when boarding the transportation directly with a contactless bank card or generate an e-ticket QR from the app.

Because it has Mastercard’s endorsement, the card can be used for various purchases at any establishment that accepts that credit card brand.

The regular fares for the “Va y Ven” transportation system are 12 pesos for the first trip, six pesos for the second, and free for the third and fourth consecutive trips within a period of less than two hours.
