Yucatán Tourism Hits 2.2 Million Visitors in 2025

Yucatán Tourism Council meeting to set 2026 agenda

Mérida, January 12, 2026 — To define the strategic lines for tourism activity during the current year, the Second Ordinary Session of the State Tourism Advisory Council (CCET) was held. This organization formally restarts its work at the beginning of the year to strengthen the planning and development of the tourism sector in Yucatán.

During the session, a comprehensive overview of tourism performance in 2025 was presented, along with the main achievements and the annual work plan. Key indicators highlighted included growth in overnight tourists, cruise ship arrivals, air passenger movement, and investment in tourism projects.

The expansion of hotel offerings and the state’s projection through local, national, and international campaigns were also emphasized.

According to figures from the Secretariat of Tourism Development (Sefotur), as of October 2025, 2.2 million overnight visitors were recorded. With preliminary information from the last two months of the year, it is projected that the goal of 2.5 million was reached.

Regarding investment, the Tourism Investment Attraction Program consolidated Yucatán as a national reference, registering from October 2024 to November 2025 private investment exceeding 9.2 billion pesos. This corresponds to 61 projects that generated more than 11,000 direct and indirect jobs in different regions of the state.

The hotel supply also showed sustained growth, with a 24.5% increase in the number of hotels and rooms compared to 2019. Currently, 739 lodging establishments operate, totaling 17,599 rooms.

In terms of economic impact, during the third quarter of last year, 13,728 million pesos were recorded, representing a 35.2% increase compared to the same period the previous year.

In connectivity, from January to November, 3,560,977 air passengers were recorded, a 6% increase compared to 2024.

Meanwhile, the cruise segment closed 2025 with 153 arrivals and more than 470,000 passengers, representing a 48.3% growth compared to the previous year. Hotel occupancy from January to October reached 57.2% in Mérida and 53.5% statewide.

The work plan for the current year integrates actions based on the axes of Sustainable Tourism Development, Tourism Promotion, and Tourism Intelligence.
