Mérida, Yucatán — A new chapter begins for Yucatán’s transportation sector with the imminent launch of Nighttime Routes, a project representing modernity, efficiency, and commitment to users. The Frente Único de Trabajadores del Volante del Estado de Yucatán (FUTV), led by its general secretary, Engineer Héctor “Billy” Fernández, has announced this initiative as a firm step toward safer, more technologically advanced, and inclusive service.
A Collective Effort for Improved Service
With the support of 45 concessionaires and collaboration from multiple sector stakeholders, this collective effort will allow vehicles currently used for nighttime service to gradually transition to operating exclusively during daytime shifts. This change will provide relief in terms of maintenance and economic strain for owners, who have covered shifts of up to 24 continuous hours for over two years.
Fernández stated, “We are witnessing a historic transition. The goal is to dignify both the user and the driver. This new phase not only represents an improvement in service but also a commitment to unity, hard work, and the dedication that has defined us from 2019 to today.”
Official Launch Imminent
The ceremonial kickoff will take place in the coming days, marking the official start of this transformation in Yucatán’s public transportation system.
