The government of Yucatan and Texas A&M University are strengthening their cooperative relationship to enhance international mobility, scientific and technological research, and regional development. This partnership also heralds the establishment of the Risk Institute in Yucatan, which aims to be a national and international hub for managing research and technological innovation.
Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena and Zenón Medina Cetina, a representative from Texas A&M University, met to discuss their ongoing commitment to collaborative projects that improve the educational quality for students.
Governor Díaz Mena highlighted that a key aspect of this collaboration is academic mobility, providing more opportunities for Yucatecans to develop both professionally and personally. He expressed a desire for students to be equipped with the skills and abilities necessary to fill any role in an international company that may establish itself in Yucatan.
Zenón Medina Cetina, the representative from Texas A&M University, noted that the university is globally recognized for its academic excellence and advanced research. He stated, "Historically, these institutions have closely collaborated on specific projects related to student and academic international mobility."
He emphasized the success of programs such as student and faculty exchanges, which have allowed Yucatecan students to undertake academic and research stays at Texas A&M over the past five years. Furthermore, students from Texas A&M have also been able to participate in academic exchanges at educational institutions in Yucatan.
