Cozumel — In a joint operation, a man identified as Yamir Humberto N was arrested for his alleged participation in crimes against health. The operation involved the Investigation Group of the Secretariat of Citizen Security, the Secretariat of the Navy, the Secretariat of National Defense, and the Municipal Police.
The events took place on 4th North Street, between 50th North and 50th Bis Avenues in the 10 de Abril neighborhood of Cozumel. According to the official report, security personnel were conducting surveillance patrols when they observed two men exchanging multiple small transparent plastic bags containing a dried herb with the characteristics of marijuana.
Upon noticing the presence of the authorities, one of the suspects managed to escape. Yamir Humberto N remained at the site, where he was subjected to a preventive search.
Following the inspection, officers confiscated a vest, a backpack, and a Honda Bros motorcycle without license plates.
Regarding the illicit substances, authorities seized 47 small bags containing suspected marijuana, eight bags containing fragments similar to crack cocaine, and 24 bags containing a white powder consistent with cocaine. A handgun and a cell phone were also found in his possession.
The detainee and the seized items were placed at the disposal of the State Attorney General's Office to determine his legal status.
