A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday, May 8th, outside the "Lázaro Cárdenas del Río" bus terminal located on First South Avenue, between 40th and 45th street in Playa del Carmen. A woman, who was reportedly selling coffee outside the terminal, was shot around 5:30 in the morning.
Following the incident, local police arrived at the scene where they found the injured woman. They quickly called for paramedics and secured the area. However, upon their arrival, the emergency services confirmed the woman had sadly succumbed to her injuries.
Forensic experts from the State Attorney's Office (FGE) of Quintana Roo were brought in to begin an investigation into the incident. They also arranged for the woman's body to be transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo).
The woman was a familiar face in the area, known for her daily presence selling coffee. The motive behind this shocking attack remains unknown at this time.
