Playa del Carmen Honors Javier Rojo Gómez’s 129th Birthday

Playa del Carmen, Mexico — Representing Municipal President Estefanía Mercado, Secretary General of the City Council Luis Herrera Quiam led a commemorative ceremony marking the 129th anniversary of the birth of Javier Rojo Gómez. The event took place at the emblematic Plaza 28 de Julio.

In his address, Herrera highlighted the exemplary life of Javier Rojo Gómez as a model of dedication, hard work, and social commitment. He emphasized Rojo Gómez’s legacy not only as a union leader and governor but as a public servant who believed that "governing means listening and serving, not imposing."

"Rojo Gómez was a man of deep convictions who believed in the power of the people to transform their destiny. His legacy lives on in our institutions and in the daily struggle for social justice," Herrera stated.

The Secretary General underscored that the municipal government honors Rojo Gómez’s legacy daily through an administration that prioritizes accessibility, inclusivity, and transparency under the leadership of President Estefanía Mercado.

"Every time we listen to the people and make decisions that dignify the lives of children, youth, women, and the elderly, we keep his example alive," he added.

Concluding his remarks, Herrera urged the community to continue building Playa del Carmen’s future with honesty, unity, and love for the community.
