A woman named Adelaida del Socorro has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for attempted murder. The incident occurred in Cancún in 2020, when Socorro threw a young girl from the third floor of a building, causing her severe injuries. This act was reportedly done out of personal revenge.

The prosecution successfully demonstrated Socorro's responsibility in the incident, leading to her conviction for attempted femicide against a minor. The crime took place on December 19, 2020, when Socorro, who was under the influence of alcohol, lured the minor to her in a building located on Wallis Street in the Paseos del Mar subdivision.

Socorro picked up the girl, declared that she was exacting her revenge, and then threw her from the third floor. The fall resulted in the girl suffering a traumatic brain injury and a fractured left wrist.

Upon reviewing the evidence, the judge handed down a 25-year prison sentence to Socorro and imposed a fine of 126,735 pesos. In addition to this, Socorro is required to pay 71,968 pesos for moral damages.

This case has sent shockwaves through Cancún, drawing attention to the severity of the crime and the importance of justice for victims. The sentence aims not only to punish Socorro but also to set a precedent for similar cases, ensuring that such horrific acts are not left unpunished.
