Woman Killed in Cancun Hit-and-Run After Being Struck by Motorcyclist

Police cordon off the scene of a fatal hit-and-run accident on Lopez Portillo Avenue in Cancun

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A woman died instantly after being struck by a motorcyclist who fled the scene on a busy Cancún avenue, authorities reported.

The fatal collision occurred on José López Portillo Avenue near Supermanzana 98, directly in front of the well-known Salón Oaxaca restaurant in a high-traffic area of the city.

Witnesses said the victim was attempting to cross the busy roadway when she was violently hit by the motorcycle. After the crash, the motorcyclist managed to flee the scene, disappearing into nearby streets before authorities could arrive.

Bystanders immediately called emergency services, but when paramedics arrived, they could only confirm the woman had no vital signs due to the severe impact that threw her several meters across the asphalt.

Municipal police officers cordoned off the area to preserve the scene and prevent further incidents, causing traffic complications in that sector of the city. Simultaneously, they launched a search of the surrounding area to try to locate the responsible party, though no arrests have been reported so far.

Personnel from the State Prosecutor’s Office and the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) arrived to collect the body and gather evidence. Authorities hope security cameras from nearby businesses will help identify the motorcycle and driver involved in the tragic incident.
