Tulum, Quintana Roo — A woman was killed in a shooting early Friday morning inside a taqueria located on Okot Avenue near the traffic light at Osiris Norte Street. This marks the second femicide recorded in Tulum in less than 12 hours, following the execution of another woman on Thursday afternoon in the coastal zone.

Details of the Attack

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. when residents alerted emergency services after hearing at least ten gunshots. Minutes later, officers from the Secretariat of Public Security and Citizen Protection arrived at the scene, deploying a heavy security operation in the area.

Upon arrival, authorities confirmed that a woman had been shot inside the eatery. Paramedics responded but found the victim showed no signs of life. Her body was covered with a sheet as forensic specialists from the State Attorney General’s Office collected evidence, including multiple spent shell casings.

The victim’s remains were later transported to the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) for an autopsy, while the crime scene remained cordoned off for further investigation. As of now, authorities have not disclosed the victim’s identity or whether the attack was targeted.

Ongoing Investigation

The area was reopened several hours after the incident, though the Attorney General’s Office continues its investigation to determine the motive and identify those responsible.

This latest homicide adds to a growing wave of violence in Tulum, which has seen multiple armed attacks in recent months.

Authorities have yet to establish a connection between these cases.
