Residents from the Los Sauces neighborhood and other surrounding areas staged a protest on federal highway 307 near the Tulum exit. The demonstration was sparked by a lack of electricity and drinkable water. Over 40 protesters blocked both lanes of the highway with garbage containers, causing a significant traffic build-up.
The protesters vowed to remain until their utilities were restored. The services had been suspended due to the passing of Hurricane "Beryl" a week prior.
