In Quintana Roo, recent heavy rainfall has negatively impacted approximately 500 hectares of pineapple crops. This has led local farmers to seek assistance from agricultural institutions.

Marcelo Carreón Mundo, a farmer from the central and southern regions of the state, explained that the persistent rain has caused widespread flooding. This has had a detrimental effect on the pineapple crops.

The damage is most severe in the municipalities located in the central and southern parts of the state. Bacalar, in particular, has been hard hit. This area is known for its high concentration of pineapple production, especially in the community of Manuel Ávila Camacho, which is a leading pineapple producer.

The farmers have reached out to the Secretariat of Agricultural, Rural, and Fisheries Development (Sedarpe) for aid. They are seeking access to assistance programs and funding to help reactivate the affected lands.
