Cancún, January 7. The city of Cancún recorded two violent incidents on Wednesday in different points of the periphery. The first discovery occurred in the afternoon in the Tres Reyes neighborhood, where the body of a man in an advanced state of decomposition was located, while in the evening, a young woman approximately 20 years old was executed by gunshots in supermanzana 210.
An anonymous report alerted authorities to the presence of human remains on a dirt road called Cristo Viene, near the Mérida-Cancún highway bypass in the Tres Reyes neighborhood.
Due to the state of the corpse, it is presumed that the victim had been at the location for several weeks, showed signs of violence, and was transported to the Forensic Medical Service for identification.
Hours later, around 8:20 p.m., a code red was activated following an armed attack at the intersection of Avenues 127 and Leona Vicario in supermanzana 210.
A woman approximately 20 years old, wearing a white sweater and blue shorts, was intercepted by subjects aboard a red pickup truck while walking with two companions.
The aggressors shot directly at her, causing her death instantly after receiving impacts to the thorax.
At the scene of the femicide, several 9-millimeter caliber shell casings were located, and despite the deployment of elements from the Mexican Army, Navy, and Municipal Police, the perpetrators managed to flee after a pursuit through nearby avenues.
One of the victim’s companions was presented before the State Attorney General’s Office to give his statement, while forensic experts conducted the body removal amid the shock of neighbors in the area.
