Cancún, Mexico — The body of a man was discovered early this morning, charred and showing signs of violence, inside a burned-out vehicle in Supermanzana 66 of this city.

Attack Witnessed by Residents

According to witnesses, at least four men participated in the attack and fled the scene on motorcycles. The discovery occurred around 5 a.m. when residents of Block 7 reported a vehicle on fire near the intersection of 7th and 18th Streets. Witnesses stated that the fire had been intentionally set by several individuals.

Emergency Response and Discovery

Units 954 and 968 of the Heroic Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the flames engulfing a Volkswagen Pointer with license plates from Nuevo León. Initially, the incident appeared to involve only property damage. However, after putting out the fire, firefighters discovered a charred body in the back seat of the car, with hands and feet bound by cables.

Forensic Examination Underway

Forensic experts and agents from the Ministerial Police arrived shortly afterward to process the scene. They confirmed the victim was a man, though severe burns made it impossible to identify distinguishing physical features, except for a partially visible tattoo on the chest.

Witness Account and Suspect Description

One witness reported that a man had been driving the vehicle, parked it, and exited before being intercepted by three individuals on two motorcycles, who then set the car ablaze. The driver reportedly boarded one of the motorcycles and fled with the others toward José López Portillo Avenue.

Surveillance cameras captured images of one suspect, described as medium-built, with dark skin, and wearing a red shirt. Authorities are reviewing the footage as part of the investigation.

Evidence Collected

Investigators recovered several pieces of evidence, including a piece of wood with a wire wrapped around the victim’s neck like a tourniquet, as well as the cables used to bind him. The body was transported to the Forensic Medical Service as an unidentified individual.
